OCT 19

BRIEF
The brief of this project was to document the desire lines encounter in everyday life via any suitable medium. The outcome was meant to be a collection exploring the concept and informing further design practice.

PROCESS
Origins and context; Rooted in architectural planning as a mean to determine the most efficient pathway based on the natural human footfall traffic is contemporarily exploited in UX and UI. This prim emphasise on tracking human movements pushed me to engaged with long-exposure photography in an effort to capture how students move around studio space and interact with its surroundings. Interested in further exploring the subject I started to examine invisible desire lines of a human organism aiming to make the design of natural systems apparent. I relayed on MRI scans and projection mapping to display the desire lines of the neurological and circulatory system.

OUTCOME
The final outcome is a series of images capturing internal and external desire lines. The mapped scans provide the insides of the most efficient pathways for the distribution of fluids and information within the human body and make them visible and traceable. The attached lights on individuals working in a shared workspace provide a case study of how people navigate their movements in relation to each other.
