BRIEF
Using either an existing ‘text’ or youe own original content, your task it to create a cinematic ‘object’ utilising one of the three themes identified above.
Film as object (3) is slightly more complex.Light Music, Lise Rhodes (2010) is a good example where she proposes that we experiment not with the film content but the elements of screening, the light and sound produced by the phenomenon of proejction.The object is the experience in between projection and screen. It has been initiated, inspired by the aura of movie but repackaged as a critical tool.

PROCESS
I was researching the history of expanded cinema and focusing on understanding the core of its phenomenon. It was the emphasis on the relationship the audience had with a video work I became primarily interested in. I began to look exactly how people chose to watch and consume film. The level of engagement viewers expresses when faced with a task of decoding and understanding one's work seemed similar to the choice people make with any interpersonal relationships in their life. It led me to anchor my installation to this dynamic of proximity and engagement - the surface level experience of something and it's true meaning.

OUTCOME
"Come a bit closer and get to know me better" is an art installation about social affairs and the debate about passive and active spectatorship. Its a mixed medium piece with an emphasis on film as a focal point. It explores the role of movement and exploits the metaphor of distance and effort as a way of getting to know someone better.
